New York Explorer Pass and Go Select New York Pass Visitors Have Access to Met Events
May 10, 2013
Smart Destinations is pleased to announce that New York Explorer Pass and Go Select New York Pass holders now get free admission to the special new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art: “PUNK: Chaos to Couture.” This brand new fashion exhibit opens today (May 9, 2013) and will be on display at the Met in New York City until August 14, 2013.
“PUNK: Chaos to Couture,” the Met’s spring 2013 Costume Institute Exhibition, focuses on the impact that the cultural and musical movement of punk has had on the high fashion industry in the last few decades. Each of the nearly one hundred designs traces the convergence of punk aesthetic and haute couture in modern fashion. With seven different galleries organized into separate themes – like “New York and London” and “Clothes for Heroes” – visitors will get to experience the full spectrum of punk fashion in America.
“This exhibit will be popular among fashion, music, and history lovers alike,” said Cecilia Dahl, President of Smart Destinations. “I’m pleased that our customers will have the chance to experience something that represents an important part of New York City history.”
A number of other special exhibitions and events are happening at the Met this month. The New European Paintings Galleries are reopening on May 23. “The Civil War and American Art” exhibit, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg address, will be available from May 27 to September 22, 2013. Finally, this year’s Roof Garden Installation is opening on May 14. Travelers to New York with the New York Explorer Pass or the Go Select New York Pass who enjoy the “PUNK” exhibit and others at the Metropolitan Museum of Art might also enjoy visiting the Museum of Modern Art, one of the premier contemporary art museums in the country. Located just across Central Park from the Met, the American Museum of Natural History is another favorite with New York visitors.
